Did you know that the UK uses 13 billion plastic bottles each year, out of which 5.5 billion escape household recycling? This means 55% (approximately 3 billion) are incinerated and 45% (approximately 2.5 billion) are landfilled every year.
Here’s a simple trick to reduce that – and we’re currently putting it into place at CPC right now. Getting milk delivered to your door, in glass bottles. No drawbacks here: no need to include milk in your shopping list anymore and having to transport it back to your place. Goodbye recycle bins filled with plastic milk bottles you have to take down every week. And hello the pleasure of having fresh, quaint looking bottles of high quality milk delivered to your door in the morning.
- Reduce plastic waste: The number of times an average glass milk bottle is reused is actually around 20 but it can be as much as 50 times. Overall that makes reusable milk bottles a more energy-efficient choice than disposable plastic.
Farmdrop & Milk & More offer a simple ordering system and some flexibility with delivery times (and the latter even deliver in electric vans!). They are not available everywhere in London, but you can also find smaller delivery companies on here.
PS: Vegans and dairy-free people, despair not! You can get your alternative milk delivered in glass bottles as well thanks to M*lk. (though it’s not a cheap option)
